Sketchbook: Teddy and Bunny

Today’s sketchbook work.

I am thinking for my first assignment, to draw a collection of my son’s toys, so doing some work in my sketchbook, documenting some of those using different media.

This first sketch is my sons teddy, whom he has loved for the last ten years! He is saggy and dirty, and his arm is twisted and mangled.

I used a charcoal pencil to sketch the outline, then a stick of charcoal to add the shading and to emphasise the detail.

For this second image, of my son’s toy rabbit, I used a conte crayon stick. It was an interesting experience as I have never used one before. I was surprised at how hard it was and difficult to blend. Much different to charcoal. I quite like the result though.
